About Our Farm & Animals

Yes! Our Scottish Highland beef is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. This means our cattle never transition to grain at any point in their lives. They are born right here on our farm and spend their entire lives on pasture, rotating through diverse grazing systems that mimic their natural environment. Most farms are grass-fed but grain-finish before harvest. That is not us. What you get from Sycamore Valley Farms is the real thing, start to finish..

Our goal is to have 100% of our Scottish Highland cattle and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs born and raised right here at Sycamore Valley Farms, and that is something we are actively working toward. Because demand for our products has grown, there are times when we will purchase weaned Old Spot piglets or weaned Highland steers from trusted regenerative farms, like ours, to help meet that demand.

No matter where they start, every animal finishes their life here on our farm under our care and our standards. Our birth-to-harvest commitment means we have complete oversight of each animal's environment, diet, and wellbeing. This transparency is a core value we will never compromise.

Our Rainbow Ranger chickens begin their lives at a hatchery in Pennsylvania and are shipped overnight so they arrive here at the farm when they are just 2 to 3 days old. For the first three weeks they are in a brooder until their feathers come in and they can regulate their body temperature. From that point on, they are raised entirely by us on pasture until harvest.

Our Rainbow Ranger chickens are pasture raised on our farm and enjoy a natural diet that includes worms, bugs, and grass/clover from the pasture. They are also supplemented with locally sourced, non-GMO corn and soy feed.

Chickens, unlike cattle, require grain to grow and thrive properly. We have carefully chosen a local, non-GMO source because we believe in feeding our animals as cleanly as possible while also being honest with you about what that means.

Our Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs are heritage breed pigs raised in the forest, which allows them to root and forage naturally the way pigs were designed to. They are supplemented with locally sourced, non-GMO corn and soy feed. No antibiotics, no hormones, ever. Just pigs living like pigs.

We never use antibiotics or hormones in our feed or minerals for our beef, pork, or chicken. Our animals are raised in clean, natural environments with plenty of space and proper nutrition, which goes a long way toward keeping them healthy naturally.

We do want to be fully transparent with you, because that is who we are. In the rare situation where an animal has an infection and antibiotics are necessary to save its life or prevent suffering, we will use them. We believe that is the humane and responsible thing to do. However, we will always exhaust natural remedies first, and we will never process or sell an animal that has received antibiotics without observing the full and proper withdrawal period. Your family's safety and our integrity are non-negotiable.

We never use growth hormones on any of our animals. Period.

We raise Scottish Highland cattle, Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, and Rainbow Ranger meat chickens. These are heritage breeds that were carefully selected by farmers long before industrial agriculture existed. They are slower growing, hardier, and produce exceptionally flavored meat.

We believe these breeds deserve to be preserved and celebrated, and our mission is built around doing exactly that.

Absolutely! We believe in complete transparency and we love when our customers come out to see firsthand how their food is raised.

The best way to visit is to stop in during our farm store hours, Wednesday 4 to 7pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm, and Sunday 12 to 4pm. Come shop, say hello, and you are more than welcome to see our animals while you are here!

We do want to be upfront that we are not currently offering scheduled farm tours. Josh and I both work full time off the farm while building this dream, and our bandwidth only stretches so far right now! It is something we hope to offer in the future as we continue to grow. In the meantime, follow us on Instagram and Facebook where we share daily life on the farm, the animals, the seasons, and the behind the scenes moments that make this place so special.

Our Products

Yes! Our Highland beef is dry aged for 14 days. This process allows natural enzymes to break down the muscle fibers, resulting in exceptional tenderness and a deeper, richer flavor. It is one of the reasons our customers describe our beef as some of the best they have ever tasted.

We offer individual cuts sold by the pound (steaks, roasts, ground beef, and specialty cuts), bulk beef boxes (15 lb and 25 lb options), and quarter or half beef shares for larger families.

We also carry Highland Beef Bone Broth, Grassfed Beef Tallow, and our NEW Beef Uncured Bacon. Availability varies by season, so we always recommend stocking up when your favorites are in stock.

We offer individual cuts including chops, roasts, ground pork, bacon, and specialty cuts. Half and whole pork shares are also available for committed customers who want to fill their freezer.

Our Gloucestershire Old Spots are known for producing some of the best tasting pork in the world, and our customers agree.

We offer individual cuts including breasts, thighs, and whole birds. We also offer bulk chicken boxes (15 lb and 25 lb options).

Our Rainbow Ranger chickens are a heritage meat breed that produces flavorful, firm poultry that tastes nothing like what you find in a grocery store.

We do not accept custom orders or pre-orders at this time. All products are available on a first-come, first-served basis based on current inventory. We encourage you to stock up when your favorites are available, especially ribeyes, filets, bacon, and chicken breasts, which tend to sell out quickly.

Our Farm Club is a monthly subscription service that delivers curated boxes of our heritage meats right to you. It is a wonderful option for busy families who want the convenience of a regular supply without having to remember to reorder. Subscribers also enjoy subscription pricing that offers savings over individual purchases. Visit our shop to learn more and sign up.

Beyond our own meats, The Fold & Flock carries a thoughtfully curated selection of locally produced products that align with our values of health and quality. This includes dairy from Wil-O-Knoll Farm and Sweet Grass Dairy (raw milk, A2/A2 milk, raw butter, yogurt, and cheese), organic grains and flour, local honey and maple syrup, tallow and lard soap, tallow balm, non-toxic skincare, and more.

Our goal is to be a one-stop destination for families who are serious about what goes into their home.

We hear this question and we love it because it gives us a chance to be honest with you. We are not the cheapest option, and we never intend to be. What you are paying for is a heritage breed animal that was born on our farm, raised on pasture its entire life, never given antibiotics or hormones, and processed with full transparency.

You are also paying for the real cost of doing things right, supporting a small family farm, and investing in your health. As we like to say: you can pay now for high quality food, or you can pay later in medical bills. The choice is yours, and we respect it either way.

Yes! SYC Gift Cards start at $25 and make a wonderful gift for anyone who values real food and knowing where it comes from. Available in our farm shop and online.
